Expert: Remote work raises Apr–Jun PC imports 30% to 1.5 mln units
MOSCOW, Aug 19 (PRIME) -- Russia’s imports of personal computers jumped 30.1% on the year to 1.49 million units in April–June amid a massive switch to remote work, researcher IDC said on Wednesday in a statement.
Lenovo led by personal computer supplies with 21.7% of total imports. HP and Acer followed with 20.6% and 16.5%, respectively.
Imports of desktops rose by 1.6% to 432,000 units and of laptops by 47% to 1.059 million units.
“The share of consumer models of laptops rose 3% and of consumer models of desktops by 6% in comparison to January–March,” IDC said.
Senior analyst Dmitry Ilyin said the main growth drivers were remote work and studying, pent-up demand and a traditional investment of households in electronics during a crisis.
